Labtech Microwave undertakes major investment in new machinery
At a combined cost of £180,000 Labtech Microwave's latest investment consists of a
March PCB-1600 plasma treatment system and a Hurco VMX24 machining centre.
The new investment is designed to expand our production capability, improve our
process and maximise our efficiency during PCB manufacture.

Labtech LCP mmic packaging evaluation samples now available
To demonstrate Labtech Microwave's mmic packaging capability we have produced a
5mm x 5mm QFN style package using pcb laminate – LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) material.
The package is designed with a 2.05mm x 2.55 mm cavity enabling it to incorporate an mmic
with its associated decoupling capacitors. Simulated performance at 30 Ghz provides
less than 0.3dB insertion loss and a return loss of 13dB per RF port when attached to a
microstrip feed host board.
Included in the sample pack:
- 2 off LCP packages 5mm x 5mm with 2.05mm x 2.55mm cavity
- 1 off LCP package with 50 ohm through line (no cavity)
- 2 off RO3003 mounting circuits
- 3 off R04003 lids

Labtech Microwave appoint new principal engineer
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Melvin as our new principal engineer.
He joins us with the aim of developing the company's MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated
circuits) packaging capability which uses LCP (liquid crystal polymer)
PCB laminate materials.
